Roswell Facility Upgrades Begin

May 19, 2023

Dean Baldwin Painting, LP. announced today that the construction signaling the beginning of a $2.2 million investment to upgrade its legacy facility in Roswell, N.M. has begun. It has only been 90 days since the ribbon cutting of the newly-renovated Indiana facility and now ownership attention has turned to improving its other full-service location.

Dean Baldwin Painting proudly reported today that the construction to upgrade the Roswell facility is underway. Plans to improve and upgrade the facility were a year in the making and included erecting six walls of steel and girder construction to replace the curtain dividers, new air handling and heating equipment in the B767 bay, and a new waste water treatment plant. Barbara Baldwin, CEO and owner of this privately-held company, will be investing nearly $1.5 million to upgrade the Roswell operation combined with a $750,000 Community Development Block Grant Development Funding administered by the City of Roswell.

“This is no small undertaking; but, it’s very worthwhile to maintain the best working environment possible for our customers and employees well into the future, said Baldwin.

The steel walls and new air handling equipment will allow a more balanced air flow between the bays. The new waste water treatment plant, essential to purifying all the water used during the cleaning and painting processes, will allow the company to stay ahead of the EPA’s water quality requirements. Michael Vickers, Roswell City Planning and Support Director and Project Manager for this construction project, has been working with Dean Baldwin Painting and the City of Roswell for nearly a year to pull this project together. Timing was critical to minimize the impact to an operation that paints 160 to 200 aircraft each year. The Roswell, N.M. facility has 165,000 square feet divided into six independent aircraft strip and paint bays with offices and employee areas. This location provides jobs to more than 160 families with plans to add more jobs in the future.

“These are great improvements to an excellent facility that serves as a great economic driver to our community,” said Vickers. “These upgrades are important to the continued success of Dean Baldwin.”

The facility is well maintained and has had its share of improvements over the years since Dean Baldwin Painting took over the facility in 1999 and converted it to an aircraft painting facility. Some past upgrades included the addition of the facility foam fire suppression system and a new roof installed in 2010. This latest round of upgrades is an indication of the level of importance the company places on the success of the Roswell facility.
